The first lawn with complete care - thanks to WASP
absorber
Besides light, temperature and oxygen, water is the most
important factor for the germination process of grass plants.
Water is not
only involved in the basic processes but is also the elixir of life. Without
water there would be no germination,
no growth and therefore no green areas.
With this in mind isn’t it better to supply the seedling from the outset with
water
and the nutrients it requires? With the development of WASP this idea
of optimizing the water around the seedling at a very
early stage has been
realized through the absorber coating.
From the coating of nutrients and absorber, coated WASP seed
absorbs more humidity than naked seeds,
this is now available to the young
seedling through the coating.
This is due primarily to the super-absorber in
the coating which serves as a water reservoir.
Water is stored in the coat
and is available to the seedling as required. Besides raised water
receptiveness,
an increased nutrient uptake is also guaranteed to the
seedling.
The Process

It comes to the first and most important step of the germination
process: the swelling.
The seed releases reserved nutrients and enzymes are
activated.
The seminal bowl (testa) bursts and the germ root (radicle)
develops.
The young seedling starts to grow. From this time the young plant
begins the process of photosynthesis and takes up
nutrients from the
coating.

WASP also grows under extreme conditions. (Trial
results)
Within a greenhouse, WASP as well as traditional naked
seeds were sown in quartz sand.
Through a series of experiments the
seeds were put through extreme climatic conditions like water stress,
high temperatures and strong rays of the sun. The aim was to observe in
particular the growth behaviour after germination.
From the 9th day the
growth increase of both seeds were determined. The naked seed could not stand up
to or overcome
the extreme climatic conditions, they dried up and died. WASP
was able to store the small quantity of humidity better and
stood firm to
the extreme conditions.

Fresh appearance – maximum protection
The
germination process of grass depends basically on four factors; Water, light,
temperature and oxygen.
Insufficient water supply and easily permeable soil
is often the reason for newly germinated seeds drying
out irreversibly.
Now with the world´s first WASP coated seed with super absorber, we can
offer a Start Up complete care
package for the seedling with water and
nutrients.
Advantages amongst other things:
| ✔ Better germination | ✔ Excellent ground cover |
| ✔ Easily identified on the ground | ✔ Lower wind susceptibility |
| ✔ Less failures | ✔ No loss to birds |
| ✔ Easy to sow |
Water in the coat
The new seed-technology
allows us now for the first time to bind water close to every single seed and
prevents the germinated seeds from drying out.
The absorbent quality
of the coat is increased by the water tank around the seedling and
prevents
the germinated seeds from drying up. The seeds are surrounded
by a type of sponge, which supplies
the seedling with the water and
nutrients contained in the coat. The nutrient coat is preserved until
the
lawn has established and formed a thick sward.
Machine or manual sowing is substantially simplified by the higher
1000grm grain weight of the WASP
seed in comparison to traditional naked
seeds.
Blasts of wind do not destroy the sowing pattern: the seeds remain
controlled in their distribution
to the sowing surface.
The seed soil
contact is improved by the increased weight of the seed and the grass sward is
thicker
and better rooted.
This excellent WASP Start Up care can
increase the germination of the seeds compared with traditional
naked seeds
by up to 50%.
The actual coating protects the seed even before we
consider the content of the coating. In addition
the slight red colouring
makes it much easier to control the seeding rate and sowing density visually.
The nutrients contained in the coating are supplied to the seedling during
its initial development after
germination. The coating consists of purely
mineral and biological components which are safe for the
soil and ground
water. Nevertheless, birds avoid the coated seeds so when it comes to sowing
time
the seeds are not lost to birds. All the components of the coating are
in tune with each other and are
especially suited to the seed.
Therefore
you can be sure that you get exactly the right lawn seed mixture for your
individual required
application.
